Women are failing to safeguard their income with protection such as life insurance
Wed, 30 Mar 2011
Women are putting themselves at risk financially by failing to buy adequate protection products, reveals research conducted by Bright Grey .

According to the The Women and Protection report, over 84 per cent of women do not have critical illness health insurance in place, while 59 per cent have no life insurance . Around 53 per cent of those questioned said they think personal protection products are a luxury they cannot afford in the current economic climate, while 17 per cent admitted they did not envisage needing such cover for themselves or their family at any stage.

However, 11 per cent said they would consider taking out a policy if they had more information about the products and the benefits they offered.

Bright Grey spokesperson Roger Edwards said: "It is worrying that women are failing to protect their income, even though they are the main breadwinners in many cases. Having protection in place gives peace of mind that women and their families will be financially secure if their income suddenly stopped because of a long-term illness or death ."
