Welcome Financial customers may get compensation for PPI
Thu, 03 Mar 2011
Welcome Financial Services (WFSL) customers could receive compensation for payment protection insurance (PPI) advice, according to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

WFSL has been declared as being in default by the FSCS as the firm is unable, or likely to be unable, to pay claims against it in relation to PPI . A considerable number of of PPI policies were sold to WFSL customers and a declaration of default will enable those customers, as well as any others who might have valid claims against the firm to make a claim.

WFSL's claims handling resources will assist the FSCS who has said it will now be responsible for PPI claims against the firm. The FSCS will be responsible for all decisions on claims in accordance with its own rules and it will oversee and monitor all steps in the handling of claims.

All policyholders who were sold PPI by WFSL will be contacted on or after 14 January 2005 by the FSCS and claimants will be kept informed about how their claims are progressing.
