Incisive Media, which provides specialist business news and information for the B2B market, has announced the launch of a new employee-funded voluntary income protection scheme, as well as a bonus sacrifice arrangement.
The new scheme will be open to all 680 employees of the publishing company in the UK, and will be integrated into its current You Choose benefits package. The income protection scheme will be administered by employee benefits provider Unum .
Emma Cutbill, benefits manager at Incisive Media, commented "We have been interested in introducing an income protection scheme for our staff for the past couple of years."
She added "It has a reputation of being very expensive, especially if it is done individually. By doing it in a group scheme the rates are quite cheap. It means someone in their 20s on a salary of GBP28,000 could get cover for GBP4 or GBP5 a month."
The scheme will be promoted to staff through brochures and posters, and there will be a number of presentations to which all staff members will be invited. However, the bonus sacrifice part of the upgrade will only be available to those staff that receive a bonus, and not all employees. Those eligible can choose to have part or all of their bonus paid directly into their pension, and will save on tax and national insurance .
