Friends Provident improves critical illness cover
Wed, 15 Sep 2010
Friends Provident has enhanced its critical illness (CI) and will now include mastectomy cover as well as five new Association of British Insurers + (ABI +) conditions.

The term ABI+ condition refers to the the Association of British Insurers' CI cover statement of best practice. An ABI + condition is one which is more inclusive than the industry standard. The five new additional ABI + conditions consist of heart attack, benign brain tumour, coronary artery by-pass grafts, heart valve replacement or repair and coma. These enhancements have also been extended to Friends Provident's children's CI product without any extra cost.

Friends Provident will pay out 20 per cent of the client's sum assured or £15,000, whichever is less, in the event of a total mastectomy to treat a carcinoma in situ of the breast. This additional cover will not reduce the original sum assured if the client needs to make a further claim.
