Legal and General introduces pre-paid funeral cover to IFA market

Legal and General (L&G) has launched a pre-paid funeral plan product into the IFA market, which guarantees acceptance with no upper age limit and no health restrictions.

There are three different plans available, provided by Dignity Funeral Services, with set prices ranging from £2,545 to £3,125. These can be paid as a lump sum or in 12 or 60 monthly instalments. The plans are open to customers over the age of 50 and include arrangements for a cremation funeral, although burial options are also available.

Peter Julier, protection marketing director for Direct at L&G, said: "Discussing financial provision for funeral arrangements is never an easy subject, but like making a will, it is important and sensible to make early preparations. By doing so, a customer ensures that their wishes are known and it helps to remove the burden of worry at what is a very difficult time for their family. The product extends Legal and General's funeral planning offering for customers who are concerned about rising costs."
