Fortis unveils global rebrand

Fortis has announced it will be re-branded with a new name and logo after the move was granted shareholder approval.

The group said it will rebrand to become 'Ageas' and the process will be completed in the UK by the first quarter of 2011. The rebrand has been created to reflect Fortis' status as a stand alone international insurance group, following the disposal of its banking assets in 2009. It operates in four key geographical region, which are Belgium, the UK, Continental Europe and Asia.

Barry Smith, chief executive of Fortis UK, said: "Shareholder support for the new brand name 'Ageas' marks an important milestone in our development as a successful and growing insurance group.

A controlled roll out of the brand in the UK suggests that no changes to the Fortis name or logo for brokers, partners or clients in customer literature or policy documentation are currently required.
