Bupa to provide medical advice with group critical illness
Wed, 24 Mar 2010
Bupa has enhanced its group critical illness cover to give claimants and their families access to independent confidential medical advice, information and guidance without any increase in premiums.

The 'Best Doctors' service is made up of an international database of over 50,000 medical specialists which will provide people with a definitive medical opinion and an independent and comprehensive assessment of their condition, without leaving home.

Steve Payne, director of Bupa Health Assurance, said: "When an employee is diagnosed with a serious illness, they want to know whether their diagnosis is correct, what alternative treatments are available and if they will get better. Giving access to Best Doctors can help employers fully support their insured staff and their families by providing a second opinion from an expert as well as help, ongoing guidance and access to medically sound, evidence-based information."

Mr Payne added that as the service is independent, it won't influence the assessment or outcome of a claim.
