Thu, 17 Jun 2010
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has recruited former Prudential director Tom Boardman, who will be advising on its supervision of the life insurance sector.

Boardman has been hired by the FSA as part of its 'grey panther' strategy to bring experience into the organisation by appointing senior and respected figures as advisers. Boardman has 35 years of experience from senior management and actuarial roles at Prudential and also set up a bancassurance arm for the Nationwide Building Society .

Hector Sants, chief executive of the FSA, said: "I am delighted to announce Tom's appointment as a senior advisor to the FSA. He has considerable experience to bring to bear on the regulatory changes and issues that we face in the insurance sector."

Boardman's last job at Prudential was director of retirement strategy and he now sits on the board of the Nest Corporation and the Investment Governance Group . The FSA has called on Boardman at a time of amalgamation among life insurers, with Resolution mounting a bid for Axa UK's life business.
