Life cover may need to be adapted following major life changes
Fri, 30 Jul 2010
Consumers are being advised that major changes in their lives could herald the need to alter their level of cover, suggests an expert from Confused.com insurance .

Matthew Lloyd, head of life insurance at the company, indicated that having the wrong level of protection could have a major impact if a claim needs to be made. He suggests that people should review their life cover every time there is a major change in their lives, such as when they get married, divorced or have children.

According to research conducted by Confused.com, 60 per cent of people do not have such a policy, while only 30 per cent have ever switched providers. Mr Lloyd commented: "The fact that so few people with life insurance have ever switched provider suggests that they may not be reviewing it, making regularly monthly payments and forgetting about it."

Recently, the firm pointed out that UK consumers spend an average of £18,500 each year on bills.
