Income protection rates repriced by Scottish Provident

Tue, 02 Feb 2010

There has been an announcement from Scottish Provident of a major repricing of income protection rates in what it described as the "biggest overhaul" of rates in recent years.

The firm said the repricing would be beneficial to those affected by the changes to the qualifying criteria to Employment Support Allowance, which has seen accepted applications fall from 83 per cent to 16 per cent.

Susan Barclay, head of marketing at Scottish Provident, said: "Today's changes emphasise Scottish Provident's continued commitment to offering comprehensive, yet cost efficient income protection, which is of vital importance for people looking to protect themselves from losing their income as a result of their illness or disability ."

The firm's income protection plan will enable customers to receive a regular income after 26 weeks away from work and includes a premium payment benefit, which ensures premiums are paid by Scottish Provident throughout the period of a successful claim.
