Aviva introduces reductions on its critical illness cover

Thu, 04 Feb 2010

Consumers taking out life insurance policies with Aviva will find reductions on their critical insurance cover, if it has exceptions.

Individuals who have a family history of illness, or pre-existing conditions, will still be entitled to get insurance when their personal circumstances are excluded and will only pay for the cover they receive. This includes when cancer and multiple sclerosis exceptions are deemed necessary under a plan.

Michael Whyte, chief underwriter at Aviva, said: "Our cover recognises that each customer is an individual and that their situations differ and change over time and as a result, the firm wants to make its cover more accessible, affordable and relevant to our customers."

Aviva also enhanced their group risk products recently with the free cover limit formula on existing and new group life policies increasing from £15,000 to £20,000, which is multiplied by the number of lives in a scheme.
