New life cover for over 55s from Nationwide

Nationwide is relaunching its over 55s life cover plan, with new product enhancements to meet the changing needs of customers.

The relaunched plan, which is provided by Axa Sun Life, will now also include the introduction of a funeral benefit option for consumers. The plan is aimed at those aged between 55 and 80 and will include guaranteed acceptance, avoiding the need for information about their medical history.

Robin Bailey, insurance director of Nationwide, said the plan would enable customers to make arrangements for funerals . He said: "For a monthly outlay, people can have the reassurance that, even if they are in their 60s and 70s, after two years, a useful cash sum could be paid towards the cost of their funeral or provide a nest egg for their family and loved ones."

The funeral benefit option will recieve a contribution of £250 by the Co-operative Funeralcare for any funeral arranged through the company.
