The investment provider and insurer, National Deposit, is rebranding and
moving into the group medical insurance market. From this month, the firm will be known as National Friendly and will be targeting a share of the market from mainstream rivals such as Axa PPP and Bupa .
The corporate identity is to be drawn up by full service design agency Huet Aminto and National Deposit is hoping that the new systems will be operating by Summer 2009 to enable it to administer large corporate contracts.
Nigel Killick, head of marketing for National Deposit, said that the decision was taken as a result of a series of focus groups. He said: "People thought that we were a bank and we certainly do not want to be a bank in today's world."
Having previously stated that private medical insurance (PMI) policyholders no longer regarded the product as discretionary, National Deposit believes that the attitude towards private medical insurance is changing.
