A qualification in long term care insurance is to be unveiled by the ifs School of Finance as an increasing number of advisers are moving into this area.
The ifs says the module, called CeLTCI, is scheduled to open in November and will take between 40 to 60 hours to complete. The cost will be £135. Mark Roberts, head of financial regulation, said: "This new comprehensive Certificate will enable practitioners to give knowledgeable advice on what is becoming an increasingly important area of advice.
The module will examine the background to long term care provision in Britain, the various types of care available and how current legislation affects the provision of advice on the issue.
Mr Roberts also commented that long term care insurance can be a complicated area, with considerable tax and legal considerations to take into account, as well as issues such as determining eligibility to claim under a long term care insurance contract.
