Legal and General have signed a new deal with Primecare in order to expand their teleunderwriting service.
GPs and nurses from Primecare will follow up certain revelations that have been made during the application process. Applicants will be able to speak confidently over the phone about their medical history at a time that is convenient for the customer.
Legal and General speak to hundreds of people about disclosures made on their applications each week and the new expansion will allow four more medical conditions to be covered by telephone, with more hoping to be added by the end of the year. The firm say the discussions will be friendly and conversational and not scripted.
Several key life stages at which insurance protection needs to be sought or reviewed were recently identified by Legal and General. These include getting married, starting or expanding a family, moving to a bigger house and approaching retirement, all of which are concerned with critical illness cover, income protection and life protection .
