With the Competition Commission's recent report on the sale of payment protection insurance (PPI), the Post Office is appealing for sales of the product to be made available on the open market to British customers.
Following publication of the report, the Post Office commented that in the present economic climate, it is essential that the financial advice customers are given is fair and honest.
In a statement, the company stated: "The Post Office has long been calling for an open market for PPI sales, where providers are honest with customers that other, cheaper standalone products are available and has contributed to the Competition Commission's investigation to this effect."
The Post Office also expressed concern about the likelihood of customers
paying too much for PPI after a recent survey revealed that 20 per cent of full-time workers have more than one PPI policy and could save over £500 a year by just having one product.
