The protection firm LV= says it is making its 2007 claims records available to advisers to enable their clients to see why it turns some claims away. The guide, called Critical Illness and Income Protection claims 2007 Our claims performance, will help consumers follow the application process and may help reduce the risk of non-disclosure, says the firm.
The guide will be published as LV= announces its claims record for 2007, when it paid 86 per cent of claims across its income protection (IP) and
critical illness (CI) policies.
"Protection is about more than just providing cover at a competitive price. We believe it is important to educate and inform consumers, and also to give financial advisers the tools to enable them with their clients too," said Chris McFarlane, head of protection at LV= .
Kevin Carr, head of protection strategy at Lifesearch added that LV= was directly helping consumers to understand the value of protection, which in the current economic climate is especially important.
