Website launched by the Income Protection Task Force

A website has been produced to raise the awareness of the importance of protecting incomes .

For people who want to know more about safeguarding their earnings, the Income Protection Task Force says Protectingmyincome.co.uk should be their "first port of call".

The site is mainly targeted at consumers, however the Task Force says too many advisers "have forgotten or have never known" investment and financial planning are "pointless if the whole financial apple cart is overturned by the intervention of illness ". Peter Le Beau, joint chairman of the Task Force, said: "We want people who need to know more about protecting their income to be directed to the website where they will find clear and accurate information about this most essential of financial products."

The site provides guidance on the need for income protection insurance and explains what the State offers under the new provisions and what happens when people need to claim.
