What is Covered By Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover, also known as dread disease cover, pays benefits on the diagnosis of certain specified critical illnesses. Over 30 diseases can be covered by policies, but these differ depending on the insurer.
Seven core conditions
The seven core conditions that all critical illness cover policies should insure against are:
- Cancer
- Heart attack
- Coronary artery bypass
- Kidney failure
- Multiple sclerosis and stroke
- Major organ transplant
Policies will also pay out a lump sum if a policyholder becomes permanently disabled as a result of injury or illness.
