Applying for Cover

The first step in applying for critical illness cover is to complete a proposal form, which will ask applicants to make a note of any family members that have suffered major illnesses in the past. Those that have will then be required to pay higher premiums or be excluded from certain conditions.

Applicants may need to undergo a medical before being accepted for cover, but this does not necessarily mean they will be required to pay higher premiums, unless they are a smoker.

As mentioned before, there are various illnesses that will not be covered, including HIV/Aids, drug misuse, criminal acts and self-inflicted injury.
